Norrlandsoperan in Umeå proudly announces the appointment of the internationally acclaimed Eduardo Strausser as their Principal Conductor and Music Director, commencing from the autumn of 2024.
Eduardo Strausser’s commitment to Norrlandsoperan extends beyond the traditional role of conductor. Set for an initial tenure of three seasons, he is poised to augment the organization’s artistic trajectory. Particularly significant is his focus on amplifying music by female composers and incorporating contemporary repertoire that engages the audience in profound ways.
Eduardo Strausser, the renowned Brazilian conductor known for his dynamic style and intelligent programming, holds a distinguished reputation in the world of music. Strausser has marked his presence in the 2021/22 season with remarkable performances, including a new commission, “Odyssee,” for Zurich Opera, and collaborations with eminent violinist Augustin Hadelich at the Musikkollegium Winterthur. His engagements stretched from conducting the El Sistema Orchestra in Venezuela to notable debuts with the Kansas City Symphony and the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra.
