Middle-Earth’s melodies reign supreme as “The Lord of The Rings” soundtrack seizes the crown in the Classic FM Movie Music Hall of Fame 2023.
The enchanting notes of Howard Shore’s masterpiece have taken the top spot, leaving behind epic scores like Schindler’s List and the galactic beats of Star Wars. With over 10,000 film music enthusiasts casting their votes, the competition was fierce.
Before the grand announcement, Classic FM showcased the top 100 contenders, building up the suspense. It was Jonathan Ross, a known chat show host and radio presenter, who had the honor of sharing the top pick, right before 7pm on a thrilling Monday.
Jonathan expressed his joy, saying, “The Lord Of The Rings isn’t just a visual treat; its soul lies in the captivating score. It’s no wonder Howard Shore’s genius resonates with so many.”
Howard Shore’s response was heartwarming. “A big shout-out to Classic FM’s devoted listeners. It’s an honor to have played a role in bringing Tolkien’s Middle-earth to life.”
Other musical masterpieces in the spotlight included soundtracks from iconic films like Gladiator, Chariots Of Fire, Titanic, Pirates Of The Caribbean, and Interstellar.
Interestingly, John Williams emerged as a favorite composer for many, showcasing his versatility with five entries in the top 20 list, including blockbuster hits like Indiana Jones and Harry Potter.
Let’s not forget, the first chapter of the “Lord Of The Rings” journey hit theaters in 2001, earning accolades not just for its visuals but for its original music score.
